Prof. Eniola Fabusoro
Eniola Fabusoro is an accomplished development professional with over 26 years of experience in agricultural value chains, research, community development, and project management. He currently serves as the Country Director for IDH in Nigeria, where he leads strategic programs that embed sustainability in supply chains and foster inclusive business models for SMEs and smallholder farmers. His work drives the transformation of African food systems, creating jobs, improving food security, and promoting local sourcing for multinational companies and FMCGs.
Eniola’s expertise spans cassava, rice, maize, sorghum, oil palm, cocoa, horticulture, and pastoral milk value chains, with a strong track record in project design, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and scaling approaches. Prior to IDH, he held senior roles in initiatives funded by IFAD, World Bank, USAID, DFID, CRS, and others, delivering impactful interventions across Nigeria and internationally. A Professor of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Eniola combines academic rigor with practical solutions for rural livelihoods. He has successfully led over 15 major consultancy projects, including baseline studies, impact assessments, and digital M&E systems for agricultural programs. His research contributions include 38 peer-reviewed publications on food security, value chain development, and socio-cultural dimensions of agriculture.
He is widely recognized for his strategic leadership and program management skills, as well as his ability to develop inclusive business models and foster partnerships across public and private sectors. His core strengths include stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation systems, fundraising, and business development. These competencies have enabled him to design and implement transformative projects that scale impact and deliver sustainable results.
Eniola holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, where he also earned his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in the same discipline. In addition, he is an alumnus of the Executive Diploma Program on Strategic Leadership and Communication at the Lagos Business School, further strengthening his leadership and communication capabilities.
His professional excellence has been recognized through several prestigious awards and fellowships, including the Post-Doctoral Fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the Agriculture for Peace in Africa Fellowship at the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies in Yokohama, Japan. These honors reflect his commitment to advancing agricultural development and sustainability at both local and global levels.
